Turkey and European Union countries have also taken important steps regarding the protection of individuals’ personal data against the dangers of the internet. Law No. 6698 was adopted in 2016 and the Personal Data Protection Institution was established. This law enhances the responsibility of those who gather data, especially via electronic means, and foresees punishment by the Authority in case of violation.
